CHARACTER
Name: Aerith Gainsborough
Canon: Final Fantasy VII
Age: 22
Timeline: Post Death
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: N/A
Personality:
Aerith is a sweetheart, she's kind and thoughtful, playful and funny. She keeps a cheery attitude before and after hard situations, and during them she's seen trying to keep everyone else's spirits high too. While some may find such a personality annoying, most in her canon don't seem to but rather Aerith is seen making friends very easily and naturally with them. She's not one to ever dwell on her own hardships, nor on the faults or mistakes of others. Instead, Aerith is far more likely to focus on the positive in herself and those around her. Her greatest strength is her ability to persevere with such a good attitude, and her ability to make friends.
Several relationships help to demonstrate her personality as well as having affected it. The first would be Tseng. While Tseng is an agent of the Shinra corporation which is arguably her enemy, they become friends in Aerith's childhood. Shinra has a special interest in Aerith's heritage and her power and several times they either capture her or try to recruit her. Despite that, Tseng is kind to her and genuinely cares for her, and many times rescues and protects her even when it's not part of his mission. Early on in her life, such a friendship is invaluable to her and helps her be able to deal with the stressful things happening to her. Tseng was there for her when no one else was.
The next two friendships which affect her are those of Zack and Cloud. While they both initially are so similar, when Cloud becomes more of himself she recognizes that and expresses she wants to know the real him. Aerith dates Zack for several years and the two have a kind and supportive relationship. While events with Cloud become very complicated, these two support and watch out for each other in a similar fashion. These friendships, along with all the others along the way, help Aerith to not feel so alone and give her strength and direction.
One aspect which uniquely guides Aerith's personality is her relationship to the planet and the planet's Lifestream. While we never see directly just how in-tune she is with the planet, it's implied that her Cetra heritage allows her to have a deep connection with it. It is headcanon on my part that this connection is tied in with how cheerful she is, even in the face of adversity, it's as if she can see the bigger picture of life and how everyone and everything is connected.
Aerith has several noteworthy weaknesses. For one, she is very stubborn. Once she makes up her mind it's nearly impossible for even her closest friends to dissuade her. Part of this is naivete, and part of this is from having had to be so self-sufficient all of her life. She also has a strong set of morals which may help her, or may lead her blindly down a path when other options could be available to her if she would consider them. Another weakness is the naivete I just mentioned. While she manages to stay cheery, she is affected by hardship especially if it's extreme, and she has a hard time standing for hardship happening against others.
Background: Wiki
Abilities:
Aerith has some combat experience with a staff, but most of her usefulness comes with her magic. However, she can't do any magic without Materia and she has none. It's my belief that her connection to "the" planet was only her home planet, so she won't have that in Ruby City.

Test Drive from another game, here!
Prose Log Sample:
Everything was so quiet here. It took her a few days to really understand what it was she felt as if she were missing, something in the back of her mind that she had been anticipating but simply wasn't there. It reminded her of when a clothes washer was running and you knew that was happening but you tune it out with the knowledge that later you'll check back and find your clean clothes, not cognizant of when that swishing and churning sound actually stopped.
It was a poor example but when Aerith realized she couldn't sense the background noise of the planet's lifestream, that's what she thought of. She had taken the sensation of the lifestream for granted for a very long time, sometimes even wishing she didn't hear it or tuning it out to the point of almost feeling normal. Aerith had come to terms with it though, and so now being on a whole new planet without any Cetra connection, she missed it terribly. The planet was quiet, still, and Aerith could see the life all around her and yet to her it felt so much more lifeless.
She stood in the small grove, looking around at the various fruit trees. Aerith appreciated their beauty, the quiet moment despite the village around her, and the light breeze teasing her hair and the grass at her feet. In that moment she felt so alone, but also in that moment another entered the grove and her eyes went to them. Aerith couldn't help but smile at them, and she waved too. It figured, she thought, that just as she felt alone someone would come near to reminder that she really wasn't.
